Anxiety Therapy for Children

Supporting children and young people across East Devon

Imagine your child discovering that anxiety doesn't have to run the show anymore.

Imagine your child being able to…

  • fall asleep peacefully in their own bed without needing you to stay until they drift off to sleep or climb into your bed during the night.
  • look forward to birthday parties, days out and sleepovers instead of worrying about them for days beforehand.
  • cope when life feels difficult because they have the confidence and tools to manage their worries.

That’s what I help children and teenagers achieve.

From my therapy room in East Devon, I help children and teenagers experiencing anxiety build confidence, understand their worries and develop coping skills that last long after therapy has finished.

Anxiety can show up in lots of different ways.

You might notice your child struggling with sleep, constantly seeking reassurance, becoming overwhelmed or finding everyday worries difficult to switch off. It can also affect their body, showing up as tummy aches, headaches or difficulty sleeping.

You’re doing everything you can to help.

Yet the worries keep coming back.

Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, separation anxiety or overwhelming worries, the right support can make a real difference.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

You don’t have to figure this out on your own. I’ll help you understand what’s happening and show you ways to support your child at home, so you feel more confident between sessions.

“My daughter has been struggling with anxiety for some time. Charlotte was recommended to me and my daughter took to her straight away which is a real plus. She has been super helpful in supporting my daughter with techniques to aid her anxious feelings, enabling her to do things she hasn’t been able to for some time and her general wellbeing has greatly improved.”

Gillian

“I cannot recommend Charlotte enough. My six year-old has made so much progress after having some regular sessions helping her with anxiety. She has come such a long way and the confidence she has now is amazing. She enjoys every session with Charlotte.”

Kim

Here's the part most parents have never been told...

Anxiety doesn’t disappear with reassurance.

Your child needs evidence that they really can cope.

That’s why simply telling them they’ll be okay often isn’t enough.

Helping children understand what’s happening in their mind and body, while gradually building confidence through experience, gives them coping and emotional regulation skills they can use long after therapy has finished.

It gives them the evidence they need to believe they really can cope.

"Every child is different. Their therapy should be too."

I don’t expect children to fit the therapy. I tailor the therapy to fit the child.

Whether your child loves drawing, football, Lego, storytelling or something completely different, I build the therapy around them, using the things that naturally capture their interest and imagination.

Using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), creative activities and, where appropriate, hypnotherapy, every session is designed to help your child understand what’s happening inside their mind and body, build confidence and develop coping and emotional regulation skills they can continue using long after therapy has finished.

Supporting parents is an important part of the process too. I’ll help you understand what’s happening, so you feel more confident supporting your child between sessions.

What if things could be different?

The aim isn’t to stop your child ever feeling anxious.

Feeling anxious is part of being human.

The aim is to help your child understand their anxiety, build confidence and develop the skills to respond differently, so anxiety no longer gets to run the show.

Over time, those small changes begin to add up.

More confidence.

More independence.

More moments that feel like childhood again.
